Terms of Service
Last updated: May 1, 2026
Important: This is a digital service, not an official document
PetPass is a record management platform. PetPass passports, digital certificates, QR profiles, verification pages, and clearance indicators are not official government documents and do not guarantee travel approval, regulatory acceptance, veterinary acceptance, airline acceptance, border clearance, or any other outcome.
Always verify requirements with the relevant authority before travel or any regulated activity.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using PetPass, including petpass.co and app.petpass.co (the "Platform"), you agree to these Terms of Service.
These Terms apply to all users, including pet owners, veterinary professionals, veterinary clinics, shelters, rescues, insurers, airlines, transport providers, organizations, and visitors.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Platform.
For material Terms updates, PetPass may require you to explicitly accept the updated version before continuing to use the Platform.
2. Description of Service
PetPass provides a digital pet record management platform that enables users to create, store, organize, manage, and share pet identification information, health records, vaccination histories, treatment records, travel-related documents, ownership records, and related pet activity information.
The Platform may connect pet owners, veterinary clinics, shelters, rescues, insurers, airlines, transport providers, and other authorized parties.
PetPass may include a feature called a "Pet Passport" or "Digital Pet Passport." This feature is a digital summary and organizer of pet records only. It is not a government-issued passport, government certificate, travel authorization, import permit, export certificate, health certificate, or official proof of legal travel eligibility.
3. PetPass Is Not an Official Government Document
PetPass passports, digital certificates, QR codes, public profile pages, verification pages, and clearance indicators are supplementary record-management tools only.
They are not issued by, endorsed by, approved by, or recognized as official documents by any government, regulator, airline, border authority, veterinary regulator, or other authority.
PetPass is not affiliated with, endorsed by, authorized by, or acting on behalf of CFIA, USDA APHIS, EU pet passport authorities, UK APHA, any border agency, airline, foreign government, veterinary regulator, or other governmental or regulatory authority.
PetPass does not issue official government certificates, export certificates, import permits, health certificates, travel approvals, customs clearance, airline approvals, or legal authorizations.
4. Travel and Regulatory Disclaimer
PetPass may help users organize pet travel records, reminders, checklists, and requirement guidance.
PetPass does not guarantee that a pet is eligible to travel, enter a country, board an airline, cross a border, avoid quarantine, or satisfy any legal, veterinary, airline, import, export, customs, quarantine, or government requirement.
Travel requirements shown on the Platform are guidance only, based on data we maintain on a best-effort basis. Pet travel rules may change frequently and without notice, and requirements may differ by country, province, state, airline, route, airport, border authority, animal type, age, vaccination history, microchip status, and travel date.
Users are solely responsible for verifying all requirements directly with official sources, including CFIA, USDA APHIS, destination countries, transit countries, airlines, border authorities, veterinarians, and other applicable authorities before travel.
You agree not to rely solely on PetPass, its passports, records, indicators, checklists, QR pages, or guidance for travel eligibility, regulatory compliance, veterinary decisions, or legal decision-making.
5. Account Registration and Authority
To use the Platform, you must create an account with accurate, complete, and current information.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities under your account. You must notify PetPass immediately of any unauthorized access or suspected account misuse.
By registering, managing, sharing, or transferring a pet profile, you confirm that you have legal authority to do so. This means you are the pet's owner, or you have explicit permission from the owner or authorized organization to maintain or share records on their behalf.
PetPass may approve, reject, suspend, or terminate accounts at its discretion, including accounts created with false, misleading, incomplete, fraudulent, or unauthorized information.
6. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- the accuracy and completeness of information you upload or enter;
- ensuring you have authority to create, manage, share, or transfer a pet profile;
- obtaining consent before uploading or sharing information involving another person, organization, clinic, shelter, rescue, pet owner, buyer, adopter, or third party;
- confirming all travel, veterinary, ownership, legal, airline, import, export, and regulatory requirements independently;
- using the Platform only for lawful purposes.
You must not upload false, misleading, forged, altered, fraudulent, or unauthorized records, certificates, forms, images, or documents.
7. Pet Records and Responsibility Allocation
Owner responsibility: Pet owners are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of pet information, identification details, ownership information, and documents they upload.
Veterinarian responsibility: Veterinarians who use the Platform to record vaccinations, sign records, certify information, or validate records are responsible for the medical accuracy, legality, completeness, and professional appropriateness of those records and certifications.
Organization responsibility: Clinics, shelters, rescues, insurers, airlines, transport providers, and other organizations are responsible for accurate business information, proper staff access management, lawful record use, and compliance with applicable professional, regulatory, privacy, and operational obligations.
PetPass responsibility: PetPass provides platform infrastructure, including storage, access controls, sharing tools, audit logs, and record-management tools. PetPass does not independently validate medical content, ownership status, legal travel eligibility, or regulatory compliance unless expressly stated in writing.
8. Veterinary Professionals and Credential Verification
Veterinary professionals and veterinary organizations must provide accurate professional, licensing, clinic, and organization information.
PetPass may verify veterinary credentials using publicly available registries, submitted licence information, clinic information, documentation, or other reasonable methods.
PetPass does not guarantee the ongoing validity, licence status, competence, conduct, professional standing, or regulatory compliance of any veterinarian, clinic, organization, or staff member.
Only approved or verified veterinary users may be permitted to sign, certify, validate, or mark certain records within the Platform.
Until a veterinary user is verified, records created by that user may be treated as unsigned, user-uploaded, or unverified records regardless of the user's claimed role.
9. Record Integrity and Classification
PetPass may label records by source or status, including:
- User-uploaded
- Vet-issued
- Organization-issued
- Signed
- Verified
- Official-uploaded
- Unverified
- Expired
- Pending
A record marked as "verified," "signed," "official," or similar does not mean PetPass issued, endorsed, certified, guaranteed, or legally validated the record. It only reflects the source, status, or category shown in the Platform.
Records signed, submitted, or validated by veterinary professionals or organizations may be locked, restricted, or audit-trailed.
Pet owners may not modify veterinary-signed records, official-uploaded documents, or other restricted records except through approved correction processes.
PetPass may maintain logs showing who created, uploaded, edited, accessed, viewed, shared, signed, validated, revoked, transferred, or deleted records.
10. Sharing, QR Codes, and Public Profiles
Users may choose to share pet records with veterinarians, clinics, shelters, rescues, airlines, insurers, transport providers, government authorities, buyers, adopters, or other third parties.
By initiating a share, QR code, public profile, transfer, download, export, or link, you consent to the disclosure of the selected information to the receiving or viewing party.
Anyone with access to a public QR code, public profile, or share link may be able to view the information made available through that feature.
You may revoke or disable active shares where the Platform provides that option. Revocation does not retract information already viewed, downloaded, copied, stored, or relied upon by a recipient.
PetPass will not intentionally share pet or user records with third parties except:
- when initiated, authorized, or requested by the user;
- when required to provide the Platform;
- when required by law;
- when necessary to protect rights, safety, security, users, animals, PetPass, or prevent fraud;
- as described in the Privacy Policy.
Users are responsible for ensuring they have authority and consent to share pet records with third parties.
11. Shelters, Rescues, Breeders, and Transfers
Shelters, rescues, breeders, adoption organizations, and other organizations are responsible for ensuring they have lawful authority to create, upload, manage, transfer, or share pet profiles and records.
PetPass may provide tools to track ownership, custody, adoption, sale, or transfer information.
PetPass does not independently determine, guarantee, or resolve legal ownership, custody, adoption, sale, transfer, or possession disputes involving any pet.
12. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the Platform for any unlawful, fraudulent, misleading, harmful, or unauthorized purpose;
- upload false, forged, misleading, altered, fraudulent, or unauthorized pet information or documents;
- misrepresent yourself as a veterinarian, clinic, regulator, airline, government authority, shelter, organization, or other professional;

Your information may be stored or processed in the United States, Canada, or other countries where PetPass or its service providers operate.

You retain ownership of content you upload, including pet photos, documents, records, and information.
You grant PetPass a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to store, host, process, display, transmit, share, and use uploaded content as necessary to provide, secure, improve, support, and operate the Platform, including providing services to you and parties you authorize.

PetPass may suspend or terminate access if we believe a user has violated these Terms, submitted false information, misused records, created legal or security risk, failed to pay applicable fees, or used the Platform in a way that may harm PetPass, users, animals, organizations, or third parties.
You may terminate your account through the Platform where available or by contacting PetPass.
Account deletion is processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable retention obligations.
Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ends immediately.
